ALL CHURCH BEACH PARTY and WATER BAPTISM – We will have a great ALL CHURCH FELLOWSHIP Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 6:30 – 9:30 PM at the Macomb Township indoor pool and recreation center located at 20699 Macomb Street, Macomb Township, MI 48042.  If you’ve never been there, this is a first class facility with a huge pool, hot tubs, lazy river and water slide!  Your kids will love it.  Our purpose is to baptize those who desire to do so, swim and fellowship!  There is a suggested donation of $5 per person to offset our costs, but nobody will be turned away if they cannot afford the donation.  Food will also be served.  If you desire to be baptized, or are even curious about it, then SEE Pastor Steve Barkey this Sunday, January 22, 2012  at 12 noon.

CHURCH BOARD ELECTIONS – Sunday, February 12^th we will have a brief meeting for all church members in the Sanctuary following the AM worship where church board ballots will be approved and voting will commence for our 2012-2013 church board.  Members can vote Sundays, February 12^th and 19^th; unfortunately, our by-laws do not allow for absentee voting.

Hey teens!  Join Shannon & Randy Sunday evenings at the ORCN Ministry Center for an awesome series on “To Save a Life: Dare to Make Your Life Count”.  This is a powerful inspirational book for teens based on the message of the movie To Save a Life. It’s a call for teens to identify with Jesus by crossing social boundaries and befriending the lost, hurting, lonely and hopeless.  It is also a call to prayerfully identify the people God has brought into their lives that are just dying to be heard and need God’s unconditional love and grace.

Children’s Bible Quizzing (Ages 1^st- 6th Grade)

Children’s Bible Quizzing is studying the biblical book of Matthew this year. Kids get into Matthew and learn what the Bible says. Activities are specifically geared to help children immerse themselves in the ancient world, learning what life was like for Jesus and His followers. Each week children build their spiritual vocabulary as they incorporate FAITH WORDS into their everyday lives. Characteristics of God are revealed in each weekly “Dig Site” to help children learn who God is, what He is like, and how He interacts with people.

Abigayle Ministries

This service group volunteers at a ministry for homeless, pregnant women and new mothers needing transitional assistance. Abigayle is always in need of women to drive the women to appointments, usually in the local area. Just arrive at the house (the girls are usually always ready), drop them off, and then return to pick them up when their appointments are complete.

There is a need for volunteers to spend the night during the week & one weekend per month. They have a very comfortable volunteer bedroom suite. This ministry requires an application process and training.

We are also looking for women or a female from our teen group to ride in the van along with Jerry Barkey to pick women up from Abigayle’s on Sunday mornings who want to come to church. No training required. You would have to be at church by 9:15 a.m.  If anyone is interested, or you have questions please contact Jerry Barkey at (586) 489-3954.

East Michigan CCDA

What does CCDA stand for? Good Question. The East Michigan Christian Community Development Association was founded and is operated by Pastor Mark Judkins, who is the brother of Kim Bianchini.   Their motto is “Unlocking neighborhood access to opportunity”.  They assist with job search, finding housing, career development, food, mentoring, business coaching etc.  They try to be a “Homeless Prevention Ministry” by helping people function at home and in society.

Current Needs:

• Tutors for their after school program starting in October from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M.  If you can read and add, you can help.
• Drivers
• Seniors Program – Starts in October – They need volunteers to sew, play checkers, prepare meals in the ministry kitchen and serve, etc.
• Appliances, Clothing, Furniture, Toys etc.  CCDA called it an “Asset Reallocation” program.

Hey teens!  Join Shannon & Randy Sunday evenings at the ORCN Ministry Center for an awesome series on “To Save a Life: Dare to Make Your Life Count”.  This is a powerful inspirational book for teens based on the message of the movie To Save a Life. It’s a call for teens to identify with Jesus by crossing social boundaries and befriending the lost, hurting, lonely and hopeless.  It is also a call to prayerfully identify the people God has brought into their lives that are just dying to be heard and need God’s unconditional love and grace.

Children’s Bible Quizzing (Ages 1^st- 6th Grade)

Children’s Bible Quizzing is studying the biblical book of Matthew this year. Kids get into Matthew and learn what the Bible says. Activities are specifically geared to help children immerse themselves in the ancient world, learning what life was like for Jesus and His followers. Each week children build their spiritual vocabulary as they incorporate FAITH WORDS into their everyday lives. Characteristics of God are revealed in each weekly “Dig Site” to help children learn who God is, what He is like, and how He interacts with people.

Abigayle Ministries

This service group volunteers at a ministry for homeless, pregnant women and new mothers needing transitional assistance. Abigayle is always in need of women to drive the women to appointments, usually in the local area. Just arrive at the house (the girls are usually always ready), drop them off, and then return to pick them up when their appointments are complete.

There is a need for volunteers to spend the night during the week & one weekend per month. They have a very comfortable volunteer bedroom suite. This ministry requires an application process and training.

We are also looking for women or a female from our teen group to ride in the van along with Jerry Barkey to pick women up from Abigayle’s on Sunday mornings who want to come to church. No training required. You would have to be at church by 9:15 a.m.  If anyone is interested, or you have questions please contact Jerry Barkey at (586) 489-3954.

East Michigan CCDA

What does CCDA stand for? Good Question. The East Michigan Christian Community Development Association was founded and is operated by Pastor Mark Judkins, who is the brother of Kim Bianchini.   Their motto is “Unlocking neighborhood access to opportunity”.  They assist with job search, finding housing, career development, food, mentoring, business coaching etc.  They try to be a “Homeless Prevention Ministry” by helping people function at home and in society.

Current Needs:

• Tutors for their after school program starting in October from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M.  If you can read and add, you can help.
• Drivers
• Seniors Program – Starts in October – They need volunteers to sew, play checkers, prepare meals in the ministry kitchen and serve, etc.
• Appliances, Clothing, Furniture, Toys etc.  CCDA called it an “Asset Reallocation” program.

ALL CHURCH BEACH PARTY and WATER BAPTISM – We will have a great ALL CHURCH FELLOWSHIP Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 6:30 – 9:30 PM at the Macomb Township indoor pool and recreation center located at 20699 Macomb Street, Macomb Township, MI 48042.  If you’ve never been there, this is a first class facility with a huge pool, hot tubs, lazy river and water slide!  Your kids will love it.  Our purpose is to baptize those who desire to do so, swim and fellowship!  There is a suggested donation of $5 per person to offset our costs, but nobody will be turned away if they cannot afford the donation.  Food will also be served.  If you desire to be baptized, or are even curious about it, then SEE Pastor Steve Barkey either Sunday, January 15 or 22, 2012  at 12 noon.

BLAZE STUDENT MINISTRIES 2012 WINTER RETREAT: Saturday, February 18 – Tuesday, February 20.  They will be leaving from the Ministry Center Saturday at 9 AM and return Tuesday to the Ministry Center approximately 5 PM.  Cost $ 140.00 plus a signed permission slip and waiver.  Events:  Touring the Creation Museum and Planetarium in Petersburg, KY and tubing at Perfect North Slopes in Lawerenceburg, IN.  You must RSVP to Duane Staten by February 5, 2012.

ORCN VALET SERVICE AVAILABLE – Orchard Ridge Church provides valet parking assistance to those who need it as you arrive at church.  We realize that some of our seniors, parents with small children and those with physical challenges find it difficult to park and walk through the parking lot – especially on bad weather days.  So just pull your car up to the door and look for one of our greeters at the curb.  They’ll help you out of your car, park it, and return your keys immediately.  They’ll also get your car for you after church if you need it.  Contact Eddie Simcox (586) 677- 4962 for questions or if you would like to be a driver.  You must be over 18 to participate as a driver in this ministry.

Children’s Bible Quizzing is studying the biblical book of Matthew this year. Kids get into Matthew and learn what the Bible says. Activities are specifically geared to help children immerse themselves in the ancient world, learning what life was like for Jesus and His followers. Each week children build their spiritual vocabulary as they incorporate FAITH WORDS into their everyday lives. Characteristics of God are revealed in each weekly “Dig Site” to help children learn who God is, what He is like, and how He interacts with people.

Abigayle Ministries

This service group volunteers at a ministry for homeless, pregnant women and new mothers needing transitional assistance. Abigayle is always in need of women to drive the women to appointments, usually in the local area. Just arrive at the house (the girls are usually always ready), drop them off, and then return to pick them up when their appointments are complete.

There is a need for volunteers to spend the night during the week & one weekend per month. They have a very comfortable volunteer bedroom suite. This ministry requires an application process and training.

We are also looking for women or a female from our teen group to ride in the van along with Jerry Barkey to pick women up from Abigayle’s on Sunday mornings who want to come to church. No training required. You would have to be at church by 9:15 a.m.  If anyone is interested, or you have questions please contact Jerry Barkey at (586) 489-3954.

East Michigan CCDA

What does CCDA stand for? Good Question. The East Michigan Christian Community Development Association was founded and is operated by Pastor Mark Judkins, who is the brother of Kim Bianchini.   Their motto is “Unlocking neighborhood access to opportunity”.  They assist with job search, finding housing, career development, food, mentoring, business coaching etc.  They try to be a “Homeless Prevention Ministry” by helping people function at home and in society.

Current Needs:

• Tutors for their after school program starting in October from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M.  If you can read and add, you can help.
• Drivers
• Seniors Program – Starts in October – They need volunteers to sew, play checkers, prepare meals in the ministry kitchen and serve, etc.
• Appliances, Clothing, Furniture, Toys etc.  CCDA called it an “Asset Reallocation” program.

NOTE: Now that we have purchased property, there will be expenses associated with developing the land (architectural and legal fees, etc.).  Therefore, this Building Fund total may fluctuate depending on our expenditures.
